Denise
Denise taught elementary students, eventually moving on to teach English Literature, her major and passion, to high school students. She was also a speech and drama teacher, which plays into her courses as well.
Denise moved from South Africa to Sydney, Australia in 1996 together with her husband and 3 sons. She wrote a book titled, Jeez mom, what planet are you from? The book is filled with tips for life she wanted to share with her sons, and much to her surprise, they had it published.
Overview
Denise motivates and inspires students (and anyone!) to enjoy literature from the very first page. Shakespeare, poetry, and all your soon-to-be-favourite classics like you've never seen them before.
Denise offers this introductory course for students on their prescribed books, poetry and plays. These courses are available to interested adults alike. Believe it or not, Shakespeare, poetry and novels can and should be enjoyed! Her reward comes from seeing and hearing their enthusiastic response, "Now I want to read that book!" Her greatest joy is having students want to take her classes during school break.
The 40-min Experience
This intro lesson is focused on the book 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. Denise will break down the title, some key basics of the book and learn some of the meaning behind why it was written and other facts that will give you a greater appreciation for your next read.
